Student Ambassador Program a

The goal of the Global Studies Student Ambassador program is to offer students who have recently studied abroad through BU’s Global Studies program an opportunity to gain practical and professional experience in the field of international education by assisting with outreach, publicity, and advising for the various international opportunities that are available to BU students.

How it All Began

Bethel’s Global Studies program traces its
roots back 91 years when Ethel Brintle and Bernis Barnet, both members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, made the journey to Cali, Colombia, to start a school, now known as Colegio Americano.

During that time, religious persecution kept many children from receiving an education. Ethel Brintle and Bernis Barnet opened their school to all children of any religious affiliation so that all children could have access to a good education.

Supported by the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Colegio Americano is considered a sister school to Bethel University, and Global Studies groups have been serving there since 2015. The bond between the two schools is strengthened with every passing year and inspires our work around the world.
